CLASSES FOR TEACHERS of the SUZUKI METHOD

Enhance Suzuki Instruction using: MOVEMENT THAT FITS, Dalcroze Eurhythmics and the Suzuki Method, by Joy Yelin, published by Summy-Birchard, based on years of experience presenting Dalcroze Workshops at Suzuki conferences nationwide.

WORKSHOPS in MUSIC/MOVEMENT and CURRICULUM
Based on years presenting workshops through the Council of Arts in New York and Sarasota.

About Dalcroze Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, 1885 - 1965, teacher of harmony at the Geneva Conservatory, Switzerland, was astonished by the lack of musicianship in his professional students’ performance. Intuitively he reasoned that music was being taught intellectually and what was missing was a physical connection with music. So he asked students to respond with movement to music he improvised at the piano.  Viola! When they transferred their physical impressions to their instrument, he noticed a marked improvement in performance and concentration. In spite of a lack of scientific proof in those days,he seemed to understand that the brain can retrain.
